About the College

Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor was established in the year 2002 by Sree Buddha Educational Society, Kollam, which is registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act, 1955. The college which began its stride with three B.Tech programs in 2002, now offers B.Tech program in 9 branches and M.Tech/PhD programs in six branches of Engineering and Technology.

The College is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The College offers NBA Accredited B.Tech Programs and is Reaccredited by NAAC for another five years since November 2019. The College is also recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC act, 1956. In recent years, the college has organized many programs of national importance; Prime Minister's Samsad Gramin Yojana (PM- SAGY), Smart India Hackathon (2019), National Conference Series on Engineering Education for Facing the Future (E2F2) since 2017, etc. The department of civil Engineering organised an International Conference on Sustainable Practices in Engineering & Technology (IC-SPET’23) on 14-16th June 2023. The college has become a centre of excellence catering to the needs of higher education sector in the State of Kerala.

About the Depeartment

The Department of Biotechnology & Biochemical Engineering is a diverse and powerful faculty encompassing unique expertise in biochemical and molecular life sciences. The department is recognized nationally as well as internationally for its research quality and output and for training students to be industry-ready professionals. Started in 2002, the Department of Biotechnology & Biochemical Engineering, has in a short span of time, established an unparalleled reputation in teaching and research. Having collaborations with DBT, AYUSH, Oushadhi, Universiti Sains Malaysia and various other reputed institutions, the department actively nurtures manpower development by offering 4-year B.Tech (Biotechnology & Biochemical Engineering), 4-year B.Tech (Food Technology), 2-year M.Tech (Biotechnology& Biochemical Engineering) and PhD courses. Recently the department organised 2 FDPs funded by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) was started in the year 2004 with undergraduate program and started postgraduate program in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) in the academic year 2011-12. The department is an approved research centre of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) for the Ph.D. program. The department is accredited by NBA since November 2019. The department provides quality instruction and teaching to both UG and PG levels to prepare students to take up leading positions in academia and industry globally. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering believes in open interaction with students who are encouraged to participate in academic, research and extra-curricular activities. To perceive latest technologies and opportunities relating to Mechanical Engineering the department has entered into MOUs with major industries and research institutions in the country. The faculty members of the department are actively involved in research activities which have led to more than 32 lakhs of research funding from various central and state agencies. The major research areas include Aerospace materials, Additive manufacturing, Battery technology, Electronic materials, Battery thermal management, Concrete roof cooling, and Engineering Materials. In the recent years, the department has also organized many FDPs in association with AICTE and KTU.

About the Conference

The Department of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering & Department of Mechanical Engineering jointly organising an International Conference on “Smart & Green Materials for Biotechnology, Biochemical and Mechanical Applications” on 30th November, 1st and 2nd December 2023 at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor, Kerala, India. The intent of organizing the international conference is to provide tremendous opportunities to academicians, researchers, and practicing engineers to share the scientific knowledge, industrial experiences, and research outcomes. The beneficiaries of the conference are faculties, students and research scholars from academia and engineers from industry. This would definitely be a platform for knowledge sharing and getting acquainted with latest developments in the emerging technologies in diverse areas of advanced material science.
